Biography

Biography

Rubens R. Fernandes graduated in mechanical engineering at the Federal University of Technology – Parana (Curitiba – Brazil, 2008-2014), and later obtained a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the same university (2014-2016). Following that, he completed a Ph.D. in chemical engineering at the University of Cambridge (UK, 2017-2021) under the supervision of Prof. Ian Wilson. His doctoral research focused on the cleaning of viscoplastic soil layers using impinging liquid jets.

Rubens also worked as a research assistant (2010-2014) and research engineer (2016-2017) at the Research Center for Rheology and Non-Newtonian Fluids (Curitiba, Brazil), investigating the rheology and flow of drilling fluids and other yield stress materials. He is supervised by Prof. Randy Ewoldt and is currently investigating the rheology of yield stress materials.
